Walk through the innovation cycle
A scene from the Duroob reel: students testing ideas at a whiteboard, with the green Innovation path running through

Duroob Innovation in 30 seconds

Imagine. Create. Improve. Impact.

From a question to an idea, and from an idea to a team that tests and improves it with design thinking until it makes a difference to its community. That’s how the Innovation path works.

Imagine it. Build it. Pitch it.

Innovators learn in six stages that repeat. Tap any stage to see what learners do there, and follow one real school challenge from problem to pitch.

Example: a school challengeStudents arrive late because the school bus comes at a different time every day.

1/6Observe

What learners do
Learners leave the classroom to watch and ask: who has the problem, when, and what do they do about it today?
Tool
Interviews and an empathy map
In our example

Interviews with 10 students and parents reveal mornings with up to 25 minutes of waiting.

2/6Define

What learners do
Turn what you saw into one clear question you can work on.
Tool
The “How might we…?” question
In our example

How might we let families know when the bus will arrive before they leave home?

3/6Ideate

What learners do
Generate many ideas before judging any, then pick the strongest.
Tool
Brainstorming and SCAMPER
In our example

A text when the bus sets off, a WhatsApp group, a GPS tracker, or a fixed timetable.

4/6Prototype

What learners do
Build a quick, cheap version of the idea to try before spending on it.
Tool
Paper prototypes and simple mock-ups
In our example

A paper mock-up of a bus-tracking app, and a trial WhatsApp group.

5/6Test

What learners do
Put the prototype in users’ hands and measure what really happens, not what you hope.
Tool
User tests and simple measures
In our example

A one-week trial with 20 families: did waiting time drop, and what would they change?

6/6Scale

What learners do
Turn what worked into a business model and pitch it to people who can adopt it.
Tool
Business Model Canvas and a pitch
In our example

A pitch to the school board with the numbers: cost, time saved and a plan for other schools.

Academic vision

Innovation is taught as a discipline, not a talent. Learners move through a structured cycle (observe, define, ideate, prototype, test, scale) grounded in design thinking and lean entrepreneurship research.

Learning framework

Built on the Design Thinking model (Stanford d.school), the Lean Startup method and the Business Model Canvas, aligned with the OECD creative-thinking competency framework.

Common questions

All questions
Does my child need any experience to start the Innovation path?

No. The Innovation path starts with thinking like an inventor and spotting problems around us, then builds from there. Programs open soon: register your interest with your child’s age and interests, and we’ll suggest the right start.

What is the difference between design thinking and entrepreneurship?

Design thinking is a method for understanding users and solving their problem, useful to students and employees in any field. Entrepreneurship takes the solution to market: customers, business model, numbers and funding. Many learners start with the first and move on to the second.
